Passport Services

NOTE:  Beginning on February 1, 2008, US regulations will require that both parents be present to sign the passport application or visa pages for all minors under the age of 16. This replaces the current regulations which allow minors to sign for themselves at the age of 14.

In order to obtain passport services, you must make an appointment to come to the U.S. Embassy.

Please note that all passports are printed in the U.S. and mailed back to the Embassy. Therefore, processing times can vary throughout the year based on the current workload.  Passports can take between 3 and 6 weeks to be processed.  Therefore, please plan ahead and ensure that you always maintain a valid passport.

Pursuant to regulations under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable. The regulation also requires that American citizens have a passport when departing the U.S. by air regardless of destination. Airlines are required to transmit passenger passport information to comply with APIS regulations and face possible fines for boarding passengers who are not documented with a passport.
